Distances are not borders when it comes to saving lives, as was ratified this Tuesday in the Central Unit of Medical Collaborations during the solidarity meeting between members of the Health Union and delegates from sister nations.

This event that consolidates the unity of Cuban workers and other countries was chaired by the member of the Political Bureau Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the Central Workers of Cuba; Santiago Badía González, general secretary of the National Union of Health Workers; Michael Cabrera Laza, director of the UCCM; Oscar Solorzano, member of the Mexican collaborators.

Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento reaffirmed the feeling of solidarity and humanism of the Cuban people who in difficult times share education, health and love with those who need it, as well as denounced the economic, commercial and financial blockade against our land, and condemned the genocide against Palestine .

The event, in addition to celebrating the great festival of the world proletariat, recognizes the creation more than six decades ago of the medical collaboration brigades, an honor that the Revolution and Cuban medicine defend today.

Michael Cabrera Laza, specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine (MGI), states that “the medical collaboration brigades have developed missions in all countries on the continent. Today, we have 54 medical brigades in 54 countries, with more than 22,600 collaborators who respond to the needs of other nations that need our help, but without imposing anything simply to share what we have and serve their population.

Furthermore, he expressed: “the reality is that we continue to be where they need us, and with the principle of helping that people while contributing to the Cuban economy, we are aware that whatever little or much they can generate in each of their missions is used in Cuba for the sustainability of the national health system, that is, they are contributing to each of the institutions: hospitals, schools, polyclinics; so that their own co-workers can perform in better conditions.”

“With unhealthy campaigns and very bad intentions, the only thing the US achieves is that the prestige of our country and medicine in the world continues to grow. Today we have requests from all continents because nothing is going to change the humanistic sense.” and supportive of our collaboration.”

Oscar Solozarno, head of the Mexican collaborators brigade, reaffirmed the love that his country feels for Cuba and its condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade. He also assures that the Cubans are not alone, since they have a hundred Mexicans behind them who support them and admire their willingness to save lives.

Health unionists defended the principle of solidarity and humanism with other countries. Xiomara León Guevara, MGI specialist and graduate in Public Administration, highlights that the path is not easy, but the collaborations have made her grow as a professional and as a person because she begins to learn different customs, languages and traditions, seeing how you save lives in places so remote and lacking medical assistance.

Dr. Mariza de la Rosa Ortega, collaborator from Mexico, specifies that we are internationalist doctors who share just as our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz proposed “sharing what we have and not what we have left over” from our resources and knowledge; She also explained that it is necessary to create the concept of innovation within our ranks.
