In Monterrey, the regional security council was held with the objective of unifying efforts between the Government of Casanare, the municipalities and the Public Force, to strengthen the fight against crime, especially cattle rustling in the south of the department.

This security meeting was attended by the Secretary of Government of Casanare, Julio Ramos Prieto; Gen. Walther Giraldo, commander of the VIII Division of the National Army; mayors of the municipalities of Monterrey, Tauramena, Villanueva and Sabanalarga; Prosecutor’s Office, Police, Immigration, councilors, among others.

Among the conclusions as a line and navigation route to effectively combat crime, are:

  • The Mayor’s Office of Monterrey presented the security regionalization strategy with municipalities in the south of Casanare.
  • The Government of Casanare will accompany and support each regional technical table in the south of Casanare around the security plan.
  • The Attorney General’s Office will schedule days of criminal mediation and implementation of restorative justice for Monterrey.
  • Rustling in Monterrey will be prioritized as a crime that will be investigated the most.
  • The National Army praised the creation of this strategy and will continue to actively participate in security formulation strategies for the south of Casanare.
  • The National Police and Immigration Colombia are actively and purposefully integrated into the planning of initiatives to guarantee the rights of citizens.
  • A thorough study will be developed in the region regarding telecommunications.
  • The regional security table for the south of Casanare is officially installed, at the request of the Departmental Government Secretariat, extending the invitation to Aguazul, Maní, Chámeza and Recetor.

For his part, the mayor of Monterrey, Alejandro Ballesteros, stated that “it is important to me that they also articulate all the processes with the Territorial Security Fund (FONSET) in search of identifying a common pool so that the investment in the Army can really be seen.” National, Police, Prosecutor’s Office, UNP, and other assigned entities… we can leverage ourselves with strategies that are tangible, that can be seen, because we need security. We cannot allow the criminal to get stronger… I urge the mayors who are present here to continue investing in security. “This is how we take care of each other among the municipalities that share a geographical line of brotherhood,” he concluded.
