The governing body of world football sent two representatives to tour the stadiums and cities that are applying to host. There, in addition to approving some things, they made some requests to improve some details and thus have a proper party.
FIFA visits Chile to raise the Under 20 World Cup
Our country will have the mission of carrying out a tournament that was not in the plans until a couple of months ago. Chile will organize the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which requires preparing not only the stadiums but also the cities that will host the matches.
It is in that sense that days ago the governing body of football on our planet made a silent visit to national soil to learn about our reality. It was the newspaper La Tercera that was in charge of revealing the fact and even giving details of the tasks they left behind.
FIFA toured the cities that are applying to host the matches and thus learned about the stadiums in which the ANFP plans to hold the matches. One was La Serena, from where they explained part of what they learned from the meeting.
“They left us the assignment of the projects. The idea is to modernize the stadium. Above all the lighting, which must be adapted to the law. They want to know the fund to which we are going to apply. If it will be through a FNDR or with resources from Mindep. It is useful for us to leave a FIFA-level stadium for the city,” said Juan Gallardo, chief of staff of the Municipality.
Concepción was also part of the FIFA trip. Álvaro Ortiz, mayor of the city, remarked that “when we went to Santiago, Pablo Milad told us that FIFA would visit all the venues that applied. They asked to do their work calmly. The municipal team was available for whatever they needed. They toured the facilities alone. We move them. In that we were very cautious. We are waiting for them to send us a report on what we have to improve.”
Along the same lines, the councilor remarked that “Concepción has its doors open to host the World Cup. We have the infrastructure and capacity that we have demonstrated in other sporting events. We are waiting for what we must improve.”
With this, Chile is getting to know better what it must do to receive the U20 World Cup in a good way. Our country wants to throw a party worthy of it, but whether this happens will depend on many things. Especially because the Chilean fields have left a lot to be desired in recent times.

How many Conmebol teams qualify for the U20 World Cup?
For the Under 20 World Cup in Chile in 2025, Conmebol will have five representative teams. There will be four places available, while our country will qualify directly as the host country.
When does Chile play?
For now, the Chilean team is preparing for its return with the adult. On June 11, La Roja will face Paraguay in their last friendly before traveling to the Copa América 2024.
