The District Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta, in collaboration with the District Public Services Company-Essmar, has launched the program called the ‘Water Route’ as a contingency measure in the different sectors of the city due to the water shortage caused due to the El Niño phenomenon. This program has been implemented through two systems: supply by tank car and rationed supply.

During this month of touring the different neighborhoods that make up the three locations of the city, the District Mayor’s Office and Essmar have delivered around twenty-seven million five hundred and sixty-eight thousand (27,568,000) liters of the precious liquid through the so-called ‘Water Route’. Until the end of April, a total of two thousand one hundred three (2,103) tank trucks have been distributed in the different neighborhoods, thanks to this system that allows reaching the most vulnerable and difficult to access areas.

To date, the mayor’s office and Essmar have visited 161 neighborhoods, benefiting more than 40,000 families with the delivery of water to their homes.

In these sectors, operations have been carried out to guarantee the supply of water to these communities.

In order to continue improving the quality of life of all citizens, especially during this dry season, Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello noted that the administration intends to keep this plan on track. In addition, setbacks and other measures are planned to improve the continuity of the aqueduct service in all sectors of the city.

For this reason, the neighborhoods planned on the route will be announced weekly so that the community can plan and be supplied in a timely manner.

The schedule for this week, between April 29 and May 5, was established as follows: Monday, April 29: Tanque de Pastrana, Manzanares, Divino Niño I and II, December 8 and Villa Concha; Tuesday, April 30: Tanque de Pastrana, El Pando, Galán, Divino Niño I and Villa Concha; Wednesday, May 1: Pastrana Tank, Villa Concha, December 8, Divino Niño I and II, and December 17; Thursday, May 2: Pastrana, Canarias, Pando, La Paz, Aeromar Baja, Galán, Divino Niño I and II, and December 17; Friday, May 3: María Eugenia, Juan XXIII, Zarabanda, Divino Niño I and II, Tamacá, December 17 and Villa Concha; Saturday, May 4: November 11, Taminaca, Villa del Carmen, Vista Hermosa, December 8, Divino Niño I and II, and December 17. The route for Sunday, May 5th will be confirmed during the week.
