An armed man was arrested inside the Portales Metro station, in Valparaíso, after assaulting a person on public roads and escaping in the middle of a police chase.
The offender assaulted a person in Victoria Square on Tuesday afternoonwhere he stole her phone, money, and other personal items, threatening her with a weapon that appeared to be a firearm.
IAPA personnel from the Second Police Station of Valparaíso began the pursuit of the subject, who escaped to the Barón station sector, in the direction of Viña del Mar.
They managed to arrest him inside a car at the Portales station.
The oldest Luis Ariashead of the Second Central Police Station of Valparaíso, explained that “the weapon used, which corresponds to a blank weapon, was seized.”
The officer stated that the offender maintains an extensive record with crimes such as carrying a knife, mistreatment of a police officer on duty and robbery with intimidation.
Likewise, the uniformed man maintained that seeking to establish the responsibility of a woman who was with the criminal when he was captured.
EFE, for its part, highlighted that the operation ended without incidents for the passengers.
