Marcelo Ferrarishead of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, indicated in Hour of Voices (FM Ya 91.3) that the objective of this modification is to achieve the regionalization of transportation systems, leaving the biased vision of the municipal ejido, understanding that today the population constantly moves from one jurisdiction to another.

Currently, one of the biggest concerns in the interior has to do with the high transportation costs to travel from the interior to the capital of Salta. In that sense, Ferraris stated that this project will reduce costs.

“By establishing regions that allow the demand for the transportation system to expand, the costs of these systems are also reduced a little. It is a bit of a challenge that we have as a result of the subsidy reduction by the national government, to see how we reestablish a transportation system trying to replicate in some issues what was done in Salta Capital, such as the creation of the metropolitan region,” he stated. he.

In that sense, he maintained that SAETA is a successful model, but that it will be seen which form is the best for each region taking into account its particularities and distances between jurisdictions.

“The idea is to analyze case by case with each of the mayors who logically want to do so, and see how a different transportation system can be created that is something innovative and that also allows the subsistence of companies.” , said.

On the other hand, Ferraris referred to the situation of improper transportation (taxis and remises), also analyzed in the law, and explained that the municipalities will continue to maintain full jurisdiction over them, but draft agreements are being worked on regarding controls. necessary.

“We need to work in an articulated manner because those who better than the mayors know what the reality is in each of their localities. We have control throughout the entire province and we exercise it in that way, but we understand that joint work is necessary to be able to ensure that each of the transportation areas that exist in each of the municipalities does and fulfills the role that it corresponds,” he said.

Cut to the Interior Compensation Fund

On the other hand, Ferraris was consulted about the formal presentations regarding the national government’s decision to cut transportation subsidies in the provinces and indicated that there was no progress in a judicialization, but there were also no responses from the Ministry of Transportation of the nation.

“A national resolution came out where the national subsidy was annulled, and obviously this is already being analyzed by the state prosecutor’s office and the judicial actions to follow are being analyzed, but so far we have not had a response.” of what the administrative proposal that was made is,” he expressed.
