They ask to prevent the end of the program that brought oral health to more than 800 residents of the Southern Region

After announcing the completion of the National University of Río Negro program that guaranteed dental care to residents of the Southern Regionfrom the Legislature they asked the provincial government to intervene to avoid this damage.

The initiative was from legislator Luciano Delgado Sempé (Vamos con Todos), who sent a note to the governor, Alberto Weretilneck, requesting that a new agreement be signed for this service “vital for health” in the province.

“The dental program in the areas of the Southern Line has been an invaluable source of dental healthcare for local communities. However, the discontinuation of this program due to the budget crisis represents a serious threat to the oral health of thousands of residents in these remote areas,” highlighted the parliamentarian.

From the opposition bench they highlighted the importance of guaranteeing access to dental care in rural and remote communities, “where medical services are often scarce.”

Therefore, the governor was urged to consider signing an agreement with the Faculty of Dentistry of the National University of Río Negro “as an urgent and necessary measure to protect the dental health of the citizens of the South Line.”

RÍO NEGRO Diary reported on Sunday that after 14 yearsthe UNRN dentistry team must leave the care program for communities far from urban centers.

The project began in 2010, visited eight locations and served dozens of Rio Negro residents who did not have access to oral health.

Specific, There were 865 patients treated, 100 prostheses installed, 20,900 kilometers traveled in those 14 years, 20 teachers and 200 students of the race committed to the initiative.
