Fighting between the National Army and the Dagoberto Ramos structure of the FARC Central General Staff in the rural area of ​​the municipality of Caloto, northern Cauca, left more than 30 families displaced and more than 80 confined.

The confrontations took place in the Venadillos, Los Chorros and La Chiviera villages, Huellas indigenous reservation.

According to the Fabric for the Defense of Life and Human Rights of the Association of Indigenous Councils of Northern Cauca, ACIN, the intensity of the fighting left 82 families displaced and 36 confined.

“There is a high risk to the integrity of indigenous and peasant families in the region. We demand that the clashes stop immediately,” El Tejido said in a statement.

In this regard, the leader of the Nasa people Mauricio Capaz stated that these types of events are recurrent after the suspension of the bilateral ceasefire in the territory, a situation for which the humanitarian alerts issued and surveillance in the sector are maintained.

Meanwhile, the senior advisor of the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca, Cric, Jhoe Sauca, expressed the concern that exists over the record of war confrontations near the civilian population.

“We urgently call on the institutions of the Public Ministry so that the families can be attended to and accompanied,” said Sauca.

Given the high risk that the reactivation of the conflict represents for the ancestral peoples and peasant communities, the ancestral authorities demanded that the armed disputes in the territories stop.
