The Government Secretariat of the District Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta held a series of talks this morning on responsible pet ownership at the Liceo Celedón District Educational Institution.

In this initiative, children and young people analyzed the vital importance of caring for and respecting pets. Under the motto of “Inspiring everyone to be better guardians of our furry friends”, these talks become an educational platform where values of responsibility and empathy towards animals are promoted.

Adriana Pabón, representative of Enlace Animal, expressed that the Santa Marta mayor’s office through the Government Secretariat has started awareness-raising forms in the different schools in order to make known the importance of caring for our animals.

This collaboration between the mayor of Santa Marta, the Government Secretariat and the IED Liceo Celedón demonstrates a joint commitment to animal welfare and the promotion of a culture of respect and care for them.

We will continue to promote values that transcend the classroom and extend to the well-being of the community, the environment and the protection of animals, working in collaboration with educational entities to raise awareness and educate the population about the importance of responsible ownership.

Within the ambitious framework of the “Santa Marta 500 years” Development Plan, the administration headed by Carlos Pinedo Cuello has as one of its main objectives the reactivation of the Animal Welfare Center (CBA).

This initiative seeks to guarantee the care and protection of pets in the city. In addition, sterilization of cats and dogs is contemplated as an effective measure to control the animal population and promote their well-being. Likewise, animal adoption and care campaigns will be carried out, thus promoting responsibility and love for pets in the community.
