The most unrestricted support for the Palestinian people, victims of the inhuman aggressiveness of the Israeli army, was expressed by the participants in an international solidarity meeting, organized by the Icap and CTC delegation, at the Provincial Museum ‘La Periquera’, a National Monument.
Extensive, illuminating and necessary conference on the historical reality of what is happening in that region of the Middle East and its antecedents – not made visible by the mainstream media -, given by the professor and researcher, Dr.C. Alexander Abreu Pupo, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Holguín, who compared the apartheid system, which caused so much damage in South Africa, with the aggressive and discriminatory actions that Israel commits against the Palestinians to colonize their lands.
The media construction of traditional disparities, as a religious issue, has tried to evade the political reality, in which the Israelites are exalted as special and more developed beings, compared to the Palestinians, and who are deserving of colonizing those lands, in the style capitalist. After the enlightening words of Professor Abreu, the director of the ‘Calixto García Íñiguez’ Brigade, Claudia Peralta, expressed the solidarity offered to the just Palestinian cause in Canada and other countries, such as Cuba, which constitutes the best example to follow in such humanitarian practices.
The Chilean-Canadian friend recognized the massive May Day parade, which preceded this meeting held in La Periquera, as the most forceful support for the Palestinian cause. Multitudinary expression of solidarity that took place in all the territories of Cuba, she said.
Yamila Fernández, Icap official, read the final Declaration of the meeting, pointing out the increase in solidarity actions with the just causes of the people of Palestine, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Nicaragua and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
Multiply the battle on digital networks against the slanderous media campaigns of the Yankee empire and defend the identity and sovereignty of the Cuban people against the cultural neocolonialism that they seek to impose.
Demand the immediate exclusion of Cuba from the illegitimate list of States sponsoring terrorism, imposed by the United States government.
Mobilize and articulate solidarity with Cuba and carry out actions so that the United States government puts an end to its intensified economic, financial and commercial blockade that has hindered the development and well-being of the Cuban people for more than six decades.
Participating in the meeting – whose opening remarks were given by Lupe Isabel Fernández, Icap delegate – were authorities from the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban Workers’ Union, Mincex, Education and mass organizations; Claudia Peralta, director of the Canadian Calixto García Íñiguez Brigade, residents and foreign descendants, as well as Dr. Jorge Quiñones from the Henry Reeve medical brigade, among others.
For its positive union results and the constant battle it fights in favor of just causes, friendship and solidarity with the people, the Icap delegation received the status of National Vanguard Collective and the Jesús Menéndez medal.
