The Head of the Executive Power of the State Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, attended this Friday, May 3, at the start of the construction of the “Battery Module Production Center”, of the German company BMW Group Planta SLP, in the plant facilities. in Villa de Reyes.

Before company directors and with the support of Potosí businessmen, the State President pointed out that in February 2023 BMW announced an investment of 800 million euros for the production of electric vehicles and batteries, a project that consists of the integration of a new product , the expansion of current operations and the construction of a new building for the manufacture of electric batteries, which positions the Entity as, “the first premium manufacturer in Latin America to manufacture both electric vehicles and their batteries.”

Gallardo Cardona thanked the businessmen and investors for their trust in the policy of promoting and facilitating attractions of new companies, which translate into more employment for the people of Potosí and stated that work continues to enhance existing resources and strengthen the competitive advantages of San Luis Potosí and its workforce.

For his part, Harald Gottsche, president of BMW Plant San Luis Potosí, recognized the collaborative work between the Government of Ricardo Gallardo and the industry, to provide the conditions that allow the installation and expansion of more companies such as public investment in more infrastructure, ” For BMW, San Luis Potosí is our home in Mexico, that is why we are grateful for the investments in works, we hope that San Luis Potosí will grow much more.”
