Through the 4 to 7 Program, the economic autonomy of women is enhanced, supporting them with the comprehensive care of girls and boys after the school day, allowing their incorporation into the world of work.
In the premises of the Centenario República de Chile Iquique School, the initiation ceremony of the Programmatic Model 4 to 7 of the SERNAMEG Women and Gender Equality Service was held, which is executed in Iquique and Alto Hospicio in agreement with the Local Education Service .
“At SernamEG we address this reality through a varied programmatic offering that seeks to promote women’s autonomy, including economic autonomy. Accessing a job under equal conditions is a right and with this program we address this reality with concrete support for women,” said SernamEG regional director, Natalia Currín.
In Tarapacá, the program is carried out in five communes: Pozo Almonte, Huara, Camiña, Alto Hospicio and Iquique. During 2024, six educational establishments will provide support to women in the region and, at the same time, more than 330 boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 13 will benefit, with the care of monitors between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.: 00 hours.
Likewise, the program provides 237 participating women with tools to support their participation, permanence and development in the labor market, through talks, advice, workshops and other training activities.
Geidi Pineda Pianto, participating mother from 4 to 7, highlighted the importance of the program, indicating that “for the mothers who participate in this program, it has not given us the opportunity to develop ourselves and comply with our work schedules. In addition, it gives our children security, affection, long-term care, help with their homework and dynamic activities.”
