In the framework of one of the electoral annulment lawsuits filed against the councilor of Neiva, Juan Yamid Sanabria Triana, the Administrative Court of Huila accepted the precautionary measure and decreed the provisional suspension of the lobbyist on February 27 of this year. And then on April 30, the Court communicated the order by letter to the president of the Council, Juan Diego Amaya, while warning him that failure to comply with the aforementioned letter “will make him deserving of the sanctions that may be applicable.” However, in the session held yesterday, the suspended lobbyist was still attending the sessions with voice and vote, as recorded in the corporation’s minutes and media.

Sanabria Triana refuses to temporarily abandon the seat. Of course, the suspension is provisional and appeals remain to be resolved, through which it seeks to escape the precautionary measure, while the demand for electoral annulment continues.

Why is it suspended? According to the Chamber, the brother of councilor Juan Yamid Sanabria Triana, José Euripides, would have exercised functions of administrative authority as a servant of the Surcolombiana University in Neiva and, in that sense, the lobbyist would be disqualified from holding the position according to the causes. of disabilities indicated in article 40-4 of Law 617 of 2000; specifically the one related to kinship, which reads:

“Whoever has a bond by marriage, or permanent union, or kinship in the second degree of consanguinity, first degree of affinity, or only civil, with officials who, within the twelve (12) months prior to the election, have exercised civil, political, or administrative authority.” or military in the respective municipality or district; or with those who within the same period have been legal representatives of entities that administer taxes, rates or contributions, or of entities that provide public home or social security services in the subsidized regime in the respective municipality or district.”

He is the second councilor from Neiva suspended, the first was Abel Mendoza Vásquez.
