LOGROÑO, May 4. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Next Wednesday, May 8, the Red Cross in La Rioja will celebrate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (which commemorates the anniversary of the birth of its founder, Henry Dunant, on May 8, 1828) through an event that will feature the participation of different authorities, entities and companies that collaborate with the Red Cross.

During the commemoration event, which will take place at the Rioja Culture Center (CCR) at 6 p.m., the Red Cross will present various recognitions for the humanitarian work of significant people, entities and companies in Rioja society.

To this end, 11 distinctions will be awarded, for each area of ​​knowledge of the institution, “a recognition of the commitment to education, to vulnerable people, to employment, to health, to emergencies, to the environment, to volunteering and training.

The Red Cross has also established an alliance with the Federation of Entrepreneurs and the Chamber of Commerce of La Rioja to launch a badge in the form of the Rioja Solidarity Company Seal.

This seal allows us to easily identify those companies that are committed to contributing to the improvement of our region. Riojan companies that stand out for their solidarity, often in complete anonymity.

PROGRAM OF EVENTS

Red Cross in La Rioja has designed an extensive program of activities to commemorate its World Day. These events will begin on Monday, May 6, in the morning at the Paseo de Cruz Roja, with a sample of the care programs for the elderly carried out by the Social Inclusion Area and a distribution of cookies by the Action Strategy Youth.

On Monday afternoon, starting at 5 p.m., in the Plaza Primero de Mayo, a Childhood and Youth Day will take place with the support of the Logroño City Council and the collaboration of Kids&Us, Arte a la Carta, Teatro Dinámica, Clínica Dental Bujanda and More than Dance. An event that will feature recreational-educational activities, Escape Room, Karts, Tragantúa, etc. And a series of free workshops (each lasting about 20 minutes) with free access until capacity is reached.

On Tuesday, May 7, they will open the morning with a discussion table and a breakfast for companies at the headquarters of the La Rioja Business Federation, where two lawyers from the Red Cross International Protection Applicants Program, Agustín Urzay and Miguel Murillo, will resolve doubts about the different work permits.

That same morning, starting at 11 a.m., on the Paseo Cruz Roja, a tasting of intercultural pinchos will take place. During the afternoon, starting at 6:30 p.m. in Santos Ochoa Calvo Sotelo, an information session on foster care will be held, in which doubts about foster care will be resolved and will include a story-telling activity recommended for boys and girls of 2 to 6 years.

Finally, on Wednesday, May 8, at 6 p.m. at the Rioja Culture Center (CCR), the central event of the commemoration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day will take place. A significant date to celebrate the humanitarian spirit and recognize the people who make a difference in our community.
