A farmer who was traveling along one of the roads in the town of Santa Cecilia, municipality of San Lorenzo, Nariño, recorded with his cell phone the landslide that left several communities incommunicado.
According to the El Tiempo website, the event occurred last Tuesday, April 30, as a result of the heavy rains that fell in the municipalities of northern Nariño.
“That’s scary, the whole mountain is gone (…) Holy Virgin of Las Lajas“ exclaimed the farmer when he observed that part of the mountain was sliding.
Community communicator Francisco Delgado pointed out that the landslide occurred in the San Isidro village, on the road that connects the town of Santa Cecilia with the town of Salinas.
Last Monday an emergency occurred in the municipality of Arboleda, a neighbor of San Lorenzo; The rains affected the roads and some homes.
On Tuesday, heavy machinery arrived to remove the landslides, in order to enable the affected roads.
San Lorenzo is one of the 64 municipalities of Nariño and is located in the north of the departmental territory.
