In a joint effort to optimize coffee production in the department, Huila will be the epicenter of the national launch of the Cosecha Plan, a comprehensive strategy that seeks to guarantee a successful, safe and sustainable harvest in the region. According to the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC), it consists of the articulation and coordination between different entities such as the Government of Huila, the National Police, the National Army, the Chamber of Commerce and the Transport Terminal, among others, and has The main objective is to implement measures that benefit coffee production and ensure compliance with the relevant regulations.

For this launch, which will take place at the ‘José Eustasio Rivera’ Convention Center, Los Potros room, today Monday, May 6 at 7:30 am, there will also be the presence of coffee growers from all over Huila and the general manager of the FNC, Germán Alberto Bahamón.

Data collected, as of March 2024, show that Huila has 85,900 producers, 147,969 hectares dedicated to cultivation, and a total of 102,516 coffee farms, while production in 2023 reached 2,237,400 million green 60-kilo bags. , with a total value of $2.1 billion. In Huila, 21 municipalities are starting their main harvest, which represents 45% of the total coffee year.
