The public health policies of the Government of Misiones position the Madariaga Hospital as a center of professional excellence and a world reference for doctors from other countries who choose to train at this hospital. A new rotating resident will arrive shortly from Tunisia, North Africa.

Dr. Gustavo Abrile, Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Service at the “Dr Ramón Madariaga” Acute School Hospital, gave the genesis of the program through his countless trips around the world in synergy with The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) and thus the idea of application to the public system within the Provincial Health Park advanced.

This year, 2024, we had the particularity that, as a training center in Misiones, we have been training residents from around the world who will be future plastic surgeons. Starting this year we began to receive fellows, who are rotating students who come from abroad for a certain period to become familiar with the procedures we do in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery,” he explained.

Abrile specified that the original idea was generated through the International Society of World Aesthetic Surgery (ISAPS) “which encompasses more than 5 thousand members in the world, among which Argentina has 200 and many of us are part of this Society. World. They make a commitment as a training center both at the Parque de la Salud Public Hospital, but the training given to residents is the equivalent given to fellows who come for 3 months,” he highlighted.

In the first person of the fellows

Let’s learn the first-person story of Türkiye’s resident doctor, Dr Abdullah Arslan.

My name is Abdullah Arslan. I come from Türkiye, from the city of Adana, in the south of Türkiye. I am a resident in plastic surgery, I am in my third year. I am passionate about working with the body, body aesthetics and body reconstruction. So, if you are into body reconstruction, you need to learn about breast treatment after cancer removal. For reconstruction and skin cancers, of course, malignant melanoma, ascites and BCC. And we also need to know how to do reconstructions for these. And if you want to learn about body aesthetics, of course, South America, especially Argentina and Brazil are famous for that.

I am currently working as a resident fellow with Dr. Gustavo Abrile, I came for him, because he is one of the most famous plastic surgeons in the world when it comes to aesthetics and body reconstruction. Before coming here, I especially wanted to learn about tummy tucks, butt augmentation and breast operations and liposuctions and BBL, etc. Also about post-mastectomy body and breast reconstruction. I have really learned a lot from the people here at this hospital.”

They treat me like I’m one of them. As if he were one of the Argentines. And the Argentine people are very nice. And their food is very good. I love this city. They have a beautiful Costanera and I run every day. And I go to the gym. And simply the weather is very good, the people are very nice, very nice. So that’s my experience, in two parts.

One part is the surgery, the other part I am very full of my experience. It’s like I learned a lot about it, especially what I told you. And then, life here is very simple. I didn’t see anything bad for me. Maybe there is, but I haven’t seen anything, no bad words, no bad behavior. Nothing.

The people of Posadas are very hospitable, even the Ubers and shops and restaurants everywhere. So that’s my experience. I think it is one of the best scholarships in the world. So thank you very much.”

Resident of India Dr. Ankita Jawanjal

Hello everyone at Posadas, how are you? My name is Dr. Ankita Jawanjal. I finished my degree in plastic surgery in December 2023 and I have come here to do my ISAPS scholarship in Posadas, which is the scholarship of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, under the direction of Dr. Gustavo Abrile I have already completed almost 15 days of my scholarship and it has been a wonderful experience.

I am very grateful to the people of Posadas and to the residents of the hospital and its clinic for their warm welcome. I was especially interested in learning the art of body contouring, something I think I lacked during my residency training. That’s why I wanted to explore more in the field of cosmetic surgery. That is the reason why I chose Argentina. It is a center for cosmetic surgery procedures and I am very happy that I chose Posadas for my fellowship.

My experience at Posadas has been very pleasant. The people are very warm and welcoming and I have never had any encounters with theft or theft. Everyone has been very kind to me and I am very grateful to the people of Posadas for their warm welcome. As for surgeries, I have seen abdominoplasties, liposuction surgeries for body contouring, rhinoplasties, and I am excited to continue seeing gluteal, calf, and pectoral implant procedures and I am excited for this opportunity. Many thanks for everything !”..
