The Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, announced that the Government will seek a constitutional reform to revive the pensioners’ allowance 14.

The initiative, made during his participation in a Government event in the town of Ciudad Bolívar in Bogotá, would be presented after the approval of the pension reform, which continues its debate in the House of Representatives and must be approved before next June 20.

Counter 14 was established in 1993 as an additional payment per year which is received by the pensioners for retirement, disability, old age and survivors, belonging to the Public Force.

However, in 2005 this was eliminated by the then government of Álvaro Uribe Vélez.

It is worth remembering that with the new pension reform maintains the right to 13 annual allowances for pensioners and the annual readjustment, which is equivalent to the percentage of the minimum wage for allowances equivalent to this salary and the CPI (Consumer Price Index) for pensions greater than that amount.

Who receives it?

According to the Economic Benefits, Severance and Pension Fund (Foncep), contributors from the public, official, semi-official, as well as Retirees from the Military Forces and the National Police, whose pensions were submitted before January 1, 1988, are entitled to this additional payment.

The delivery of this remained valid until 2011 and the people who managed to be sheltered while it was in force continue to receive it. article 142 of law 100 of 1993:

People who retired before July 25, 2005 and whose pension is not higher than 15 minimum wages.

People who retired between July 25, 2005 and July 31, 2011 and whose pension is not higher than 3 minimum wages.
