This weekend, Giovanna Grandón, better known as “Aunt Pikachu”, surprised everyone by announcing her candidacy to be the next mayor of Florida. The former conventional, remembered for attending the 2019 protests using a body of the iconic cartoon from the Pokémon series, unleashed a series of reactions on networks after confirming that he will join the municipal race.

As announced on his social networks, Grandón’s candidacy is supported by the Popular Party, the current political group made up, for the most part, of former members of the Comunes Party.

“I grew up in the town of Lo Hermida. “I know closely the needs that come with maintaining a family with great effort,” expressed Aunt Pikachu on her Instagram account, where she announced that she seeks to succeed Rodolfo Carter in the municipal seat.

“I love my country and I think we must stand up very strongly and say no more, enough crime. We want our territories free of violence, we want more recreational spaces for our girls and boys,” added the former constituent.

“We want real changes that we need as a society: social justice, decent housing, timely health and quality education,” he added.

Networks reacted to the candidacy

As expected, His announcement unleashed a storm of reactions on social networks. X users demonstrated around the candidacy of the former constituent and even brought other controversial figures in national politics to the dance. For the most part, netizens were reluctant for Grandon to become the next communal chief of La Florida.

Comments like: “How distorted everything has to be for Aunt Pikachu to run for mayor” and “It was not enough for her to make a fool of herself for a year disguised as a corporeal one. “Go to hell, madam”, there were many on social networks.

There was no shortage of those who remembered the figure of the ex-conventional Rodrigo Rojas Vade. “Aunt PIKACHÚ wants to be mayor of LA FLORIDA, the dinosaur would be the chief of staff and Rojas Vade would be the director of finance…seriously…” and “Will your campaign manager be Pelao Vade?”they wrote in X.

Even Cathy Barriga, the former mayor prosecuted for fraud against the Treasury, came out to the dance: “How horrible, if we already had the robot, now the aunt picachú,” wrote a user.
