Luis Petri removed the number two from the ministry

The Minister of Defense of Argentina, Luis Petri, requested the resignation of his deputy minister Carlos Becker, who will leave his position after being relieved of his duties, the Noticias Argentinas web portal reported tonight.

Petri’s decision was based on internal differences within the Ministry of Defense, as clarified by the head of the portfolio himself, who categorically denied that this decision is related to his relationship with the Minister of Justice, Patricia Bullrich, the site indicated.

Becker was considered an official close to Bullrich. Despite this, Petri denied any connection between the removal and his relationship with the Minister of Security, ensuring that the relationship between the two is “excellent.”

Sources close to Petri stressed that the measure was taken strictly for internal issues of the ministry. Becker’s departure represents a reorganization within the Ministry of Defense team, which will now focus on defining new leadership for the second most important position within the portfolio.

Becker’s departure comes at a key moment, with important challenges in the Defense area and in a political context marked by differences between the different government actors. Petri has been emphatic in his intention to maintain a cohesive team, capable of responding to the country’s strategic needs in terms of security and defense.

Reorganization

Becker’s dismissal leaves the Ministry of Defense in a process of reconfiguration. Petri must choose a new vice minister who shares his vision and priorities, and who is capable of maintaining effective communication with the rest of the cabinet.

Meanwhile, the minister will continue to focus on the main challenges facing the portfolio, including the modernization of the Armed Forces, the improvement of military infrastructure and international cooperation on security issues.

In the coming weeks, Petri is expected to announce Becker’s replacement, which will allow the Ministry of Defense to clearly advance its strategic policies.

Political Relations

The relationship between Petri and Bullrich has been a point of interest in Argentine politics, as both occupy key roles within the government. Bullrich, as Minister of Security, and Petri, as head of Defense, have the responsibility of coordinating policies that directly impact the country.

The removal of Becker, who was perceived as close to Bullrich, could have raised speculation about possible tensions between the ministers.
