Two professional soldiers killed and two others wounded left a new attack by the Central General Staff of the FARC against the Army in the department of Cauca.
The Military Forces reported that alleged members of the Dagoberto Ramos column attacked with ‘tatucos’ type explosive devices and rifle bursts a military unit in the Buenavista village of the municipality of Silvia.
The soldiers died in the action: Marden Calambas Yalanda and Francisco Hidalgo Cortés.
Indigenous communities of the Pitayó territory They were left in the middle of the fighting. The senior advisor of the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca – Cric, Yesid Conda confirmed that “we reject all these alterations that violate Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law by leaving the civilian population in the middle of the bullets. We are in favor of peace but we want demonstrations by armed actors”.
This attack is added to the one registered in rural Algeria where four professional soldiers were murdered and two others were injured.
General Helder Giraldo, Commander of the Military Forces from Popayán mentioned that “military operations continue with the purpose of protecting the Colombians who live in this region, due to the criminal behavior of the narcoterrorist group calling itself the Central General Staff of the FARC dissidents.”
