On Monday, it was officially reported that Mayor Francisco Azcué was present at the Emergency Operations Center where he closely followed the behavior of the Uruguay River in the last few hours and supervised the different actions carried out in the city.

Despite the adverse weather conditions, the operation continued to develop as planned, in joint work between the different areas of the Municipality of Concordia, Armed Forces, Security, Volunteer Firefighters and intermediate entities.

Evacuations

Regarding evacuations, the president himself confirmed that as of Monday, May 6, a total of 12 families have been evacuated, of which 11 of them, made up of 20 adults and 14 minors, were transferred to private homes.

The remaining family, made up of two adults, was housed in the “El Refugio” Evacuation Center, in the Carretera La Cruz neighborhood. The total number of people evacuated so far is 36.

The municipality was reminded that the free number enabled to request assistance is 103.

Azcué pointed out that according to the information provided by the Hydrology area of ​​the Mixed Technical Commission of Salto Grande, if current conditions continue, the peak of the flood could occur towards next weekend and it is expected that the values ​​will not exceed to those registered during the month of December of last year.

The peak of the flood is currently between the towns of Garrucho and Santo Tomé, in the province of Corrientes, where the weather conditions have been favorable in recent hours, making it clear that they may vary.

The mayor of Concordia also highlighted that all necessary measures are being taken at the Salto Grande dam to cushion the arrival of the flood.

Continuing along this line, the Municipal President asked the community to take the situation as calmly as possible and to pay attention to the official information that is issued from the Emergency Operations Center, through the Municipality’s sites and that is sent to the media.

Once again Azcué insisted that those people who are unrelated to these tasks or do not reside in the areas affected so far by the flood, do not travel through these sectors, such as the Costanera.

Finally, the mayor of Concordia asked families who are in areas that may be flooded in the next few hours, to take the necessary precautions so that if they are evacuated, said action is carried out without water inside. of homes, in a preventive manner, to care for physical integrity and property.
