Family asks for help after losing their home due to heavy rains

In the midst of the tragedy unleashed by the intense rains last weekend in the capital of Tolima, a family from the San Pedro Alejandrino neighborhood, belonging to commune one, faces the total loss of their home. The disaster occurred when a sewage pipe exploded during the early hours of Sunday, completely flooding their home and destroying all their belongings.

Luz Camacho Bonilla, who is the head of the family and lives in the house with her two daughters, tells how they were surprised by the roar of the burst pipe, which left them homeless and without belongings. The situation is heartbreaking, since they do not have resources or employment at this time to be able to rebuild their lives.

Despite some help received from the community and the intervention of the Ministry of Environment and Risk Management, the family is in a desperate situation. They strongly request the support of the community and the urgent intervention of the authorities, especially the Mayor’s Office, to be relocated.

The situation is even more distressing considering that Luz, the mother of the family, and one of her daughters depend on informal jobs to survive, and now they are unable to continue with their work due to the loss of their home.

This call for help not only extends to the authorities, but also to those good hearts that can provide any type of collaboration. Solidarity in these difficult times is crucial for this family who has lost everything and now faces the uncertainty of a future without a place to live.
