In recent months, copper wire thefts from cables and transformers located on public roads have occurred in different parts of the country.

A dangerous crime due to the volts carried by the aforementioned facilities, although there are those who dare to carry out the thefts.

On this occasion, the capital neighborhood of Coronel Arias was the scene in which suspects carried out the highly risky task.

According to sources consulted by this medium, a few days ago a worker from the company that provides electricity service in the province was alerted at the emergency guard.

The notice referred to the lack of electricity supply in a sector of the Coronel Arias neighborhood, so at approximately 8 o’clock, two company workers went to the place in question.

It was then that the workers, passing through the area of the power outage, noticed that in the Húsares Collector on national route No. 9, almost on the corner of Alberti, certain people removed the public lighting transformer that was placed on a column.

Consequently, the device was lying on the floor, where they dismantled it to take the coil of copper wire.

After observing what happened they were also able to see that a few blocks away, near a well-known supermarket, they also tried to remove a transformer although without achieving their purpose they cut the input cables to the device.

Finally, the workers went to Section 31 to file a complaint about what happened.
