A traffic stop ended in a scandal after a man ran away, crashed into a municipal van (in which the deputy traffic director was riding), fought with the inspectors and ran down 24 de Septiembre Avenue. He was finally subdued and taken to the police station on charges of attack and resisting authority.

The entire story was recorded by the security cameras of the municipality of San Miguel de Tucumán, which at 5:20 on Sunday captured a white Traffic turning from Marco Avellaneda towards 24 de Septiembre Avenue, where Tránsito had set up a vehicle checkpoint.

For unknown reasons, the 41-year-old driver avoided stopping, despite signals from the inspectors, who warned his colleagues of the situation. That was why, with a gray Great Wall truck, they blocked his way. But the Traffic just stopped its march when it hit it, on the corner of 24 de Septiembre Avenue and Suipacha.

After arguing and exchanging blows from his cabin inside the Traffic, the driver got out, argued with the inspectors, struggled again and ran to the corner of 24 de Septiembre and Alem Avenue, where, finally, he was reduced to the 6.02 in the morning.

The 41-year-old man was taken to the First Police Station, while his three companions and a municipal employee were transferred, per protocol, to healthcare centers to verify that they had not suffered serious injuries. The man was traveling with his wife and son, and it was reported that he was in an obvious state of intoxication.

He was prosecuted and charged

The Criminal Prosecutor’s Unit of the MPF charged the man who works as a reseller of baking specialties with the crime of resisting authority in a real competition with minor injuries.

The main prosecutor María del Carmen Reuter, the assistant prosecutor, Julieta García, accused the aggressor of the crime that occurred on Sunday, early in the morning, at 1,200 24 de Septiembre Street. After reporting the incident, the Prosecutor’s Office mentioned the evidence, among them, the clinical examination carried out: “He showed signs of drunkenness, alcoholic breath (at the time of the incident) and increased sweating.”

The representative of the MPF requested the least intense coercive measure for a period of three months (she must establish an address and appear at Police Station III to sign the summons book every 15 days).
