On the morning of today, Tuesday, May 7, the repair of the breakdown in one of the two exterior conductors that transports water from the reservoirs of the Northwest system to the Quintero water treatment plant in the Santiago de Cuba municipality will be carried out.
According to what the Aguas Santiago Aqueduct and Sewer Company publishes on the social network Facebook, said fault has a diameter of 1000 mm, which will cause a limitation in the volumes of water input to the Quintero supply system, to the support received by the San Juan system and to the Stop system. The spillway is located behind Building S-75 in Micro 7 in the José Martí District.
This repair generates a delay in the water supply, mainly to the sectors listed below:
José Martí District.
Abel Santamaría Urban Center.
Upper Zone of the City.
El Caney, Boniato and El Cristo towns.
High areas of the El Caney sector.
November 30 (Santa Barbara upper and intermediate, November 30 upper and lower).
Agüero Alto – Marimón – Micro 8.
Industrial Zone and Refrigerator Industrial Zone.
Due to the decrease in entry to the city, priority will be given in the service to hospitals, the deficits will be assumed through tank cars, which will allow the effects of this concept to be minimized, so these centers will have to take all measures to guarantee the continuation of its services.
Our Company’s maintenance brigades will make every effort to complete this breakdown in the shortest possible time. An average of 48 hours is estimated to complete said repair and restoration.
