The Cuba team, in which the goalkeeper from Avila plays Magnol Suarezdebuted with victory in the NACHC North American and Caribbean Men’s Championship in Mexico 2024, after defeating the Puerto Rico squad 34-17 in the debut.
The competition, in which six teams participate, grants a ticket to the 2025 World Cup and constitutes a true test of fire for the Antilleans because, apart from the Puerto Ricans, they will have to face Greenland, Canada, Mexico and the current champion of the area, the United States.
In this first match for the Cubans, Jorge Félix Pren stood out, scoring six goals, while Samuel Cordié scored five and Omar Toledano added four goals.
It is significant that 11 players who are currently fulfilling contracts abroad appear in the Cuban formation. In the case of Magnol from Avila, he plays in the Spanish League with the Villa Aranda team.
The competition system in this Mexican fight includes an “all against all” in one round. The first two places will discuss the gold medal and the right to be in the world event that Croatia, Denmark and Norway will jointly organize next year.
