In an effort to strengthen data management and promote technological innovation, the Cali Administrative Planning Department recently organized two training sessions on the Santiago de Cali Spatial Data Infrastructure (IDESC) aimed at its staff.

During these days, participants had the opportunity to acquire key knowledge about the IDESC, from its general context to its importance in the local and global digital landscape. The usefulness of geographic data in the daily lives of Cali Mayor’s officials was especially highlighted, highlighting how they can apply this knowledge in their daily activities to improve decision-making and efficiency in district management.

Spatial data are used for the execution of various programs in areas such as urban planning, resource management, environmental management, analysis, territorial planning, among others.

Attendees received training on the operation of the IDESC Geoportal and Geovisor, learning how to use these tools to access and consult geographic and alphanumeric information effectively. In addition, a practical workshop was held where participants were able to apply what they learned, thus strengthening their skills in spatial data management.

These conferences represent a significant step forward on the path towards greater efficiency and modernization in data management in the Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali. In addition, they serve as a model for future training that can be replicated in other Mayor’s agencies, thus facilitating their missionary activities and promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
