Provincial authorities call on the population to stay informed and follow the instructions given the increase in the level of the Uruguay River, caused by recent rains in the upper and middle basins. Moderate overflows were reported in the Upper Uruguay region.
In the most complicated areas, alert levels were exceeded, even approaching evacuation levels in several sections. The peak occurs in Chapecó (state of Santa Catarina, Brazil), with a flow of 20K m³/s, while a significant increase takes place in the San Javier (province of Misiones) – Monte Caseros (Corrientes) section.
The return time of this phenomenon is estimated between six and 15 days, which indicates the seriousness of the current situation. Given this, the Government of Entre Ríos highlights the importance of constant monitoring carried out by the Directorate of Hydraulics and Sanitary Works, in coordination with the Ministry of Planning, Infrastructure and Services (MPIyS).
The Hydrological and Rainfall Network of Entre Ríoswhich has 198 rain gauges manned by the Provincial Police, provides daily and monthly reports on rainfall in the territory, allowing precise monitoring of the situation.
The general director of Hydraulics and Sanitary Works, Oscar Pintos, called on the population to “Be attentive to the recommendations of local authorities, especially given the persistence of rains and projections of new flood pulses”.
“In this situation of hydrological emergency, The absolute priority is the safety and well-being of the citizens and residents of the affected areas. The population is urged to stay informed and follow the instructions of the authorities to guarantee an effective and coordinated response to this situation,” he highlighted.
