Which Tucumán unions have already confirmed their adherence to the national force measure, called against the labor and Profits reforms, among other Milei measures.

The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) finalizes details for the general strike on Thursday, May 9 against the measures of the government of Javier Milei.

The force measure will be carried out to express the rejection of the Base Law, in particular, the labor reform and the reinstatement of the Income Tax, among other deregulation provisions.

The leaders of the central office called a “stoppage”, considering that the 24-hour strike will affect activities in banks, transportation services, both cargo and passengers, and in schools, among others.

In the province, a meeting of the leaders of the CGT Tucumán is scheduled for this Wednesday to find out the position of the unions regarding the national strike. Cesar Torreshead of the local Central and Truckers, will lead the meeting that will take place in the morning – the location has not yet been defined.

However, in the last few hours different unions in Tucumán have been confirming their membership, such as teachers, commerce, judiciary and construction.

The accessions

– Truckers: workers from different activities will join. The union organization is made up of freight transportation, logistics services (parcels, for example) and waste collection, among other areas.

– Education: the Tucumán Association of Provincial Educators (ATEP) responded to the call of the Confederation of Education Workers of the Argentine Republic (Ctera). They demand the financing of public education, the payment of the Fonid and against the measures that affect the sector’s retirements and the Bases Law. They also express their rejection of the national DNU, the layoffs, the adjustment and the high rates, among other slogans. At the same time, they ask the provincial government for a salary increase for teachers.

The Association of Secondary and Higher Education Personnel (APEM) also announced its support for the national teaching strike.

– Mechanics: the Union of Mechanics and Related Automotive Transport Workers (Smata) confirmed the strike in Tucumán companies, such as Scania, according to its owner Luis Diarte.

-Construction: “We adhere against the labor reform and in favor of our rights. At the national level, we are talking about the loss of work and that public works are not reactivated,” he said. David Acostahead of the Construction Workers Union (Uocra-Tucumán).

-Commerce employees: “The Federation gave us the order and we are going to comply with the general stoppage of activities. -Gastronomic: Enrique Altier, general secretary of the section of the Union of Tourism, Hotel and Gastronomic Workers (Uthgra), indicated that there were conversations with businessmen in the sector, taking into account that it is a complex activity and that it is experiencing a drop in demand. “If there is no transportation, it will surely be difficult to get to work,” emphasized the union member, who ratified the sector’s support.

-Judicial: the Tucumán Judicial Union, with presence in the judicial centers of Monteros and Concepción, will join the CGT’s force measure “against the social and labor extermination of Milei.” According to the slogans, the sector demands a decent salary that exceeds inflation and the Basic Food Basket of $800,000: “the initial judicial salary (in Tucumán) is $400,000.” To this is added the creation of “a statute for the provincial employee.” At the same time, they reject the Income Tax and labor reforms, indicated the head of the union. The Union of Employees of the Nation’s Justice (UEJN-Tucumán) could join the force measure.
