“They intend to remove more than 150 workers”: Dian sit-in in Santa Marta

With banners in hand and energetic slogans, officials gathered at the entrance of the entity to express their indignation and request an end to these measures.

In a forceful display of discontent, workers from the National Tax and Customs Directorate (Dian) in Santa Marta, especially those belonging to the Employees Union (Sedian), have held a sit-in at the entrance of the entity in protest after the announcement of the General Director, Luis Carlos Reyes Hernández, on the possible dismissal of more than a thousand workers throughout the country.

“At the Santa Marta level, we would be talking about 153 officials in the facilitator position III,” said Daniel Arias Granadillo, president of the Dian – Sedian Employees Union. The news has generated a climate of uncertainty and concern among workers, who have been surprised by the magnitude of the measure proposed by the management of the entity.

According to statements from union representatives, the employees affected by this decision and who have been in the entity for several years, are dismayed at the possibility of losing their jobs, which represent not only their source of income, but also their economic stability and that of their families.

This sit-in joins other similar ones that have been registered in other cities in the country, evidencing the widespread concern among Dian employees about the possibility of personnel cuts. The situation continues to develop as officials continue to make their voices heard in defense of their labor rights and the stability of their jobs.
