The Health Authority recalled that the main way to avoid the reproduction and proliferation of the insect is by avoiding stagnant water.

Epidemiological surveillance, control of breeding sites, training for institutions, community education and chemical fumigation has been carried out by the Seremi de Salud of the Valparaíso region to reinforce the control of the mosquito Aedes Aegypti, transmitter of diseases such as dengue.

The Seremi de Salud of Valparaíso, Lorena Cofré Aravena, maintained that “the best way to prevent the reproduction and proliferation of the mosquito Aedes Aegypti, transmitter of dengue, is to avoid stagnant water. That is why it is important to keep patios and gutters clean, change the water in animal waterers periodically and not have any type of container that can accumulate water.”

“The Seremi teams are doing everything necessary to maintain control of this mosquito in the Aconcagua Valley and prevent the insect from reaching other points in the region. However, in this effort we need the entire community to continue without having cases of indigenous dengue in the Valparaíso region. Without stagnant water there is no mosquito and without mosquitoes there is no dengue,” added Cofré.
