Homicides increased by 30%

The public order situation that is being recorded in Cartago, north of the Valley, is serious, since the homicide rate has increased by 30%. In just one week, more than 10 hitman attacks have been committed in which nine people have died.

According to what was reported by our ally, Rubén Darío Cardona, director of El Norte Hoy, the situation that is being experienced in the municipality is complex. So far in 2024, 55 people have already died thanks to hitman attacks.

It is worth mentioning that The local police are asking for an increase in force. So far they have carried out some controls in nightclubs and some other public spaces, however, the situation remains complex.

For his part, the Mayor of this municipality, Juan David Piedrahíta, made a forceful call to the National Government so that you can put your eyes on the situation that is being experienced in Cartago.

“So that the National government of Gustavo Petro sets its eyes on Cartago and helps us solve the problem of this war between two criminal gangs and that today has the city with a large number of homicides.”
