LOGROÑO, May 8. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The General Industrial Production Index (IPI) has decreased by 16.9 percent year-on-year last March in La Rioja, 5.6 points more than the national average, which has decreased by 11.3 percent, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The index was negative in all autonomous communities, with the largest decreases in Comunitat Valenciana (-18.60 percent), Cantabria (-18.00 percent) and Extremadura (-17.50 percent), while Castilla and León (-1.10 percent), Galicia (-4.50 percent) and the Canary Islands (-4.80 percent) registered the least pronounced drops.

So far this year, industrial production in La Rioja has fallen by 7.9 percent, compared to a -1.5 percent decline in the national average.

By economic destination, consumer goods as a whole fell 20.3 percent in the region with a decrease of 1.5 percent in the case of durable goods and 22.2 percent less for non-durable goods. As for the rest, capital goods increased by 17.2 percent; intermediate goods scored 10.4 percent less and energy goods, 44.7 percent less.
