On August 15, 1999, the Riojan bullfighter Diego Urdiales, dressed in a white and silver suit, received his doctorate in bullfighting in the Plaza de Dax. A quarter of a century later the sword will celebrate the anniversary in the arena that saw him pass the … upper echelon.
Dax is a bullfighting town where the bull is lived practically all day long. There is no shortage of bullfights, bullfights and giant screens in a park near the ring where young people, and those not so young, sit on the grass to watch images of the fair festivities.
The French city has a bullfighting charm that is difficult to explain. On the one hand, it is reminiscent of the Sanfermines but with that French tone that gives it a certain sophisticated touch. On the other hand, the stalls selling books, paintings and bullfighting posters offer the surroundings of ‘Les Arènes’ a retro feel with a flea market included.
Diego Urdiales will do the Paseíllo on Saturday, August 17, in the fourth run of the series with Daniel Luque and Fernando Adrián who will have to stock cattle from La Quinta.
In addition to the celebration in which Arnedo is announced, the fair will begin on August 14 with bulls by Juan Pedro Domecq for Enrique Ponce, Daniel Luque and David Galván. On the 15th Miguel Ángel Perera, Ginés Marín and Clemente will face a running of the bulls by Santiago Domecq. On Friday the 16th Tristán Barroso will take the alternative with Castella and Roca Rey against Victoriano del Río. The subscription will end on the 18th with a morning bullfight with Andy Cartagena, Lea Vicens and Duarte Fernandes against Murube’s iron and, in the afternoon, a line-up of foot fighting starring Román, David de Miranda and Adriano along with the Pedrazas of Yeltes.
