Weeks ago, taxis and taxis began to work with applications similar to Uber to try to gain lost ground against that application or to be prepared for a more massive landing by the same or other international companies.

In this way, workers behind the wheel advance in technological matters, joining the types of transport platforms that generated controversy months ago with their arrival for being considered unfair competition, since they could be used by vehicles not authorized by the municipality to operate. as a taxi or taxi.

Walter Brizuela, a representative of the workers, explained in dialogue with Mañana Central of Radio Ancasti, “they are the same agencies that always existed, nothing more than with other technologies, adapting to the current times.

Each company, each taxi or taxi base is incorporating new technology, which are obviously applications that are duly enabled by the Municipality and that are worked by legal cars.”

Although the idea is that each company has its own application, Brizuela indicated that at this moment an application is being put into effect in which two very large, very strong companies in the medium have merged, which is Movify.

“The important thing is that the community, the user, through these applications will be able to have all the information they need about the vehicle: where it is going, what car it is, what driver it is driving, where it is coming from, how long it is delayed. The truth is that they have nothing to envy of multinational applications,” he expressed.

Sector situation

Regarding how they are working in the current economic context, Brizuela pointed out that their activity continues to be very resentful.

“Our income has dropped by 50%. Every commercial item has dropped by these percentages and it has a full impact on vehicle maintenance, paying a fee today. It is seen that most of our colleagues are on the street with new cars and have gotten into loans, and it is hard, so we are fighting it,” she said.

Outdated rates

On the other hand, the reference considered that currently the travel rates are outdated, since they had the price per liter of fuel as a reference. Currently the price drop is $540, while a liter of gasoline is close to $1000.n
