Insecurity in Neiva manifests itself in various ways, including robberies, thefts from residences, assaults on public roads and, unfortunately, cases of homicide that disrupt social peace and the community fabric. This panorama not only affects the perception of security among residents, but also negatively impacts the economic and social development of the city.
The increase in surveillance and police presence in critical points has been one of the measures adopted by the municipal administration. However, citizens demand more effective and coordinated actions that can provide long-term solutions. Citizen participation and collaboration with security forces are essential to address this problem in a comprehensive manner.
«Security is not only the responsibility of the police and the government; It is a joint effort where the community must actively participate,” says a metropolitan police officer. This vision is shared by many, who suggest that strengthening community ties and education in values are essential to prevent crime.
