Yesterday, the body of the National Army soldier, Jorge David Fuentes, 26, who was killed last weekend, in combats with dissidents in Argelia, Cauca, arrived at the Alfonso López airport in Valledupar.
The military aircraft landed after 12 noon, and once the coffin descended, he was received in honor by his companions, in the presence of his family and friends who mourn this tragedy.
Karina Ahumada Fuentes, the soldier’s sister, stated that the family is experiencing a hard blow, since the soldier had to rest for his vacation and today they are receiving him in a coffin. “We spoke for the last time through a video call and I was not satisfied with his transfer to that area. However, he was very eager to get to Valledupar to spend his days off and be able to help his dad.”
He assured that Jorge David was always willing to do his work, and his goal was to work to help the family, since he was the oldest of four brothers.
As will be recalled, the fighting had been taking place since last May 2, with the Carlos Patiño residual structure in the Bolivian village, as reported by the Specific Command of Cauca, an organic unit of the Third Division of the Army.
The Army, through a statement, stated that the fighting arose after the “neutralization of three of its members and the subsequent capture in flagrante de flagrante of five more, from whom their weapons, explosives, ammunition and military supplies were seized. At the time when the air operation was planned to extract the apprehended personnel and with the aim of protecting the lives of these subjects, the troops were attacked from different points, thus beginning the fighting in this sector of the country.
In this unfortunate event, soldiers Camilo Andrés Molina, from Galeras, Sucre, César Javier Sosa Ballesteros, from La Mesa, Cundinamarca, and Jairo Urrego, from Chigorodó, Antioquia, who had been in the military force for 11 years, also died.
Jorge David Fuentes lived in the Los Fundadores neighborhood of Valledupar. The body is being watched in a funeral home in the city and will receive a Christian burial today.
