Rock and popular music schools 2024: Applications are open for Maule bands and soloists

Registration runs until Friday, May 17 for two cycles: Women Creators Rock Schools, exclusively for female soloists or bands made up of musicians, and training cycles for the entire national territory.

Until Friday, May 17, bands and soloists from Maule will be able to register for the 2024 training cycles of the Rock and Popular Music Schools, a program of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage. The invitation is to develop musical projects in the fields of management, dissemination, technical and musical production with talks and meetings by musicians and agents of the sector, protagonists of Chilean music.

The invitation was made by the Seremi of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of Maule, Ángela Campos Hernández, who pointed out that, at the end of the training period, bands and soloists will be able to choose to play in the Rockódromo Festival Network (which includes the Maule with the Pablo de Rokha Festival) and/or the Rockódromo Festival, in its 20-year edition. “I want to invite musicians in the region to be part of the Rock Schools 2024, especially women, since there is a cycle available only for them. “This is a program with a long history in the country and the region, which has allowed the dissemination, circulation and staging of many artists on different local and national stages,” she pointed out.

The open call is to integrate two cycles: Women Creative Rock Schools – with exclusive classes and meetings for female soloists or bands made up of female musicians – and the general Training Cycles, offered throughout the national territory and without requirements for their members.

The registration process must be carried out through the online system provided for this process at postulacionesescuelasderock.cultura.gob.cl. There you can consult the registration regulations, which detail each of the requirements to register for the musical project and participate in the classes. Among the steps to follow, you must create a user account, and then that user will be able to enroll their musical project in the training cycles.

The classes will be taught online and will go from Monday, June 3 to Thursday, June 6, in the case of the Women Creative Rock Schools cycle; and from Monday, June 10 to Thursday, June 13 for the general cycle, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The calendars and the list of teachers will soon be published on www.escuelasderock.cl.

Throughout the country, in 2023 more than 2,600 people participated in Rock and Popular Music Schools classes and workshops. Over 800 of them performed on one of the 16 stages of the Rockódromo Network: almost 180 bands and soloists played at festivals and public showcases and were able to spread their music through platforms such as the Rockódromo FM radio program on Cooperativa radio. This 2024, the Schools of Rock and Popular Music are preparing a training cycle at the height of the commemoration, to disembark in a special edition of Rockódromo for its two decades in Valparaíso.
