The Bucaramanga Council is the center of criticism for alleged corruption in the election of the current municipal representative, Hernando Villamizar.

According to the information revealed, the characters who were identified were Óscar Díaz, from the Conservative party, and Carlos Barajas, former councilor from the Green party. These two people are accused of receiving money and positions for lawyer Villamizar to serve as representative of the capital of Santander.
A recording brings to light a conversation in which the distribution of eighty million pesos is detailed, of which thirty million would be allocated to former councilor Barajas. According to what was discussed, Díaz would have been assured by Barajas that over the course of the next four years he could obtain similar gains by obtaining key elections, such as that of the secretary of the council, the comptroller and other relevant positions.
“30 million pesos, it was a bag of 80 million pesos in the Ombudsman, you are not clear with me… “I spoke with Jaime Andrés to do business for Pacho González…Let me arrange the support units as I wish, I have looked for Manolete,” is heard in the conversation between the leaders, revealed by Jorge Figueroa Clausen in his X account.
Within the audio, the Liberal Party deputy Francisco González is also mentioned, who would have made an agreement with the mayor of Bucaramanga, Jaime Andrés Beltrán, for the election of the municipal representative.
