Transferring a car in San Juan had a significant increase at the beginning of the year. The cost became 300% more expensive compared to 2023. Then it had a series of minor increases, but they went back to January and stabilized there.
From the Chamber of Automotive Managers of San Juan, they explained how much it would cost to carry out this procedure and why these amounts. Mariela Ahumada, president of the chamber, spoke with HUARPE DIARY and expressed: “The cost is quite relative, it depends on the valuation value of the vehicle for which you pay a fee, the provincial stamping and the forms, because each consultation requires one. You also have to add that there is a transit fee that is for the State, so it is an accumulation of costs that is not everything for the registry. It is a part for them, a part for the Provincial Government, a part for the National Government and another for the Municipality.”
In addition, he reported, as an example, that in a vehicle worth $2,000,000, the transfer expense is over $10,000.
These are the minimum suggested fees that the managers handle.
Reduction of Automotive Registrations
The national government announced a series of measures aimed at reforming Automotive Registries throughout the country. According to reports, this initiative pursues the objective of reducing costs and eliminating bureaucratic procedures.
Among the most important changes is the closure of 40 percent of Automotive Registries, starting with those that have been intervened for more than two years.
Regarding this issue, Mariela Ahumada clarified: “In San Juan I don’t think we have any closure of records because, luckily, there are no records intervened. They were intervened on the 7th and 8th, but due to the fact that they are the newest, it is a particular practice that is always carried out and if something is wrong, the Registry is removed from the person in charge. In this case, we do not have that problem because those records were audited and they are fine, they are working normally.”
