Entity made up of the port companies of Puerto Montt, Chacabuco and Punta Arenas met in Aysén, where it also met with regional authorities.

Puerto Chacabuco.- For the first time, Puerto Chacabuco received a session of the South Austral Zone Port Association of Chilean Patagonia, an entity created last year by the port companies of Punta Arenas (Austral), Puerto Montt and Chacabuco with the purpose of promote port, logistics and maritime development in the southern part of the country.

At the Emporcha offices, the organization reviewed the recent efforts and meetings carried out with different national authorities and the 3 regions involved, which have committed to providing a boost to the port activity led by these three state companies.

The event, chaired by Julián Goñi, president of Empormontt, also included the presidents of Emporcha, Enrique Runin, and the vice president of EPAustral, Jessica Saldivia, along with executives and directors of the three companies. In addition, the recently appointed executive secretary of the Association, Yanko Vilicic, a professional with extensive experience in the port field, was introduced.

Together with Vilicic, the members of the entity dedicated themselves to reviewing plans on how it will operate in the coming years, both at the level of strategic policies and projects, as well as tactical actions of coordination and joint collaboration between the three port companies in matters specific such as compliance, training, among others.

The session continued with an operational visit to the Emporcha port area, where the president of the host company himself led a tour of the guests through the facilities, focusing on fronts 1 and 2 for the care of ships.

Finally, the members of the Association participated in a meeting dinner with regional authorities related to local port and logistics activity, led by regional governor Andrea Macías; the regional presidential delegate, Rodrigo Araya; the mayor of Aysén, Julio Uribe; the ministers of Economy, Felipe Rojas, Transportation, Hans Zimmermann, and Public Works, Patricio Sanhueza; as well as Emporcha executives and representatives of companies and organizations in the area.

According to Enrique Runin, president of Emporcha, “it was a very intense day, with a lot of work, very productive, where we were able to exchange opinions and opinions on the future of the ports of the southern zone in several instances, and where there was still room to generate good camaraderie with our authorities.”

The director valued, along these lines, the support given by regional and government representatives to the idea of ​​advancing a project that would allow the expansion of the port of Chacabuco. “We received important support from our authorities (…) and also the invitation to continue working together on other issues related to the city-port relationship and the need to advance in establishing a port development in harmony with the environment,” he concluded.
