Strengthening the working ties between both organizations and recognizing press professionals with meritorious work in the dissemination of History and quality in communication, became the purpose of the meeting held between representatives of the Union of Historians of Cuba (Unhic) and the Union of Journalists of Cuba (Upec) in Cienfuegos.
The MSc. Norma Mesa Piñero, president of Unhic in the province, praised the links with the media and journalists; At the same time, she highlighted her work, because by delving into History, they promote greater knowledge of local and national facts and events.
Over time, the ties of joint collaboration between Unhic and Upec in Cienfuegos have deepened, which is reflected in the numerous texts published in the digital and printed versions of the Periódico 5 de Septiembre, the radio broadcasts of the provincial system (4 stations and especially in the provincial, Radio City of the Sea) and in the Perlavision Channel; in addition to the national correspondents.
Precisely to continue strengthening this mutually beneficial link, the publication will soon be resumed – digitally, in PDF format. Cienfuegos in History of the local weekly newspaper, a way to maintain the dissemination of historical issues from the perspective of historians and press professionals. In the same way, the existing spaces in the audiovisual media will be maintained; to which will be joined the life stories of historians with an outstanding career and the dissemination of the stories of each municipality, a line that is taken up with new perspectives.
The exchange also led to the delivery of the “Andrés Daniel García Suárez” Diploma for the meritorious work in the dissemination of History and quality in communication to nine colleagues, deserving of different awards for their work with history; among whom are Mercedes Caro Nodarse, and Roberto Alfonso Lara, from our “5”.
They were also honored with the commemorative coin by the 205th anniversary of Cienfuegos, another group of journalists. The recognition was received by Noralys Hernández Molina, vice mayor of the main municipality: Mercedes Caro Nodarse and Ildefonso Igorra López, from the “5”; Luzdeibys González Forcades and Gretta Espinosa Clemente, from Radio Ciudad del Mar, Primitivo González Prado and Boris García Cuartero, from Perlavisión, Onelia Chaveco Chaveco and Modesto Gutiérrez Cabo, from the Cuban News Agency and representing the Union of Journalists David Tang Colina and Francisco González Navarro.
