The Minister of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), Mauricio Lizcano Arango, announces an investment in regional innovation for Caldas of $20,000 million in the Villamaría Tecnoparkmunicipality adjacent to Manizales.
Of this investment, $11.5 billion is allocated to the creation of the cybersecurity research, development and innovation center operated by BIOS, a bioinformatics center that has the most powerful computer in the country.
Likewise, the investment of $8.5 billion in a center for the development of Artificial Intelligence is announced.
Besides, The Ministry allocates $5,000 million in innovation for the construction of microchips, in order to promote technological development in Manizales.
Investment in sports venues
For its part, the Ministry of Sports announces the development of works to attend the National Youth Games that will take place in Manizales in November 2024.
The work on the Bosque Popular skatedrome is 88% complete and its completion is estimated in June 2024.
Currently, work is being done on the completion of the hydraulic, sanitary and electrical installations, as well as on the finishes and details of veneer, painting and general finishes of doors and paints.
The work has an investment of $9,268 million, of which the Ministry contributed $6,918 million and the Mayor’s Office, $2,350 million.
The Jorge Arango Uribe Mayor Coliseum, which will host the sports of women’s basketball and para-table tennis, is another of the works exhibited in Manizales by the Government of Change. Currently, it reaches 70.33% execution.
The total investment amounts to $12,843 million, of which the Sports portfolio contributed $8,666 million and the Mayor’s Office $4,177 million.
At this time, progress is being made in the assembly of the metal structure, installation of reinforcing steel and erection of structural masonry walls.
After Manizales, the Government exercise with the Popular Neighborhoods will be transferred this Thursday to the city of Pereira and on Friday it will be held in Cali.
Hand in hand with communities, local authorities and leaders of social organizations, the Government intends to evaluate, monitor and accelerate the execution of the programs, projects and investments that are already underway to benefit the most needy population in these cities.
