They will create security protocol for artistic pieces in SLP

Mario García Valdez, secretary of culture of San Luis Potosiannounced that the culture department is working on the development of a security protocol for the handling, safekeeping and delivery of artistic works in museums across the state.

He explained that the objective of this protocol is to prevent pieces from Potosí creators from being lost or damaged before, during and after exhibitions, so that each museum is responsible for the care of each of the pieces, to enforce insurance in case of damage.

“What we are doing is working on the protocol so that the museum and the artist are protected regarding the number of works, conditions, photographs can be included of how the museum receives it, how it is delivered and well, this is an exercise in good faith of everyone, both from artists and museums,” he commented in a media interview.

The strategy of the Secretary of Culture of San Luis Potosí to protect the works of local creators, arises as a result of the fact that, so far in 2024, some museums established in the state have lost works of painting and sculptures by artists that they have exhibited, which has caused the dissatisfaction of the artistic community of the entity.

On May 3, the sculptor and plastic artist, Jesus Efren Barbosahe reported to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to the staff of the National Mask Museum for having damaged and lost two of his works that had been exhibited at the cultural venue, in the month of February 2024.

In addition to the accusations on social networks made by a visual artist against the Train museumduring 2023, after three pieces of paintings that he exhibited were lost.
