Due to the increases in electricity, the price of milk increased in Mendoza

In the last days, the price of milk went up in Mendoza as a result of a new increase in inputs and food for animals and fundamentally due to the very strong increase in electricity bills.

From the Guercio tambolocated in the El Bermejo area, they noted to the Post that he received a bill for one million 200 thousand pesos when between 450,000 and 480,000 pesos had been paid.

Leonardo Guercio recognized that due to the sharp increase in costs, they had to adjust the prices of consumer products. “The electricity went up quite a bit, more than 100%, and also cereals, grass rolls and freight.”

“Likewise, we have the price of milk at 750 pesos, which is still cheap compared to the costs we have. In addition to electricity, inputs have had an average adjustment of 15%. In any case, since we have merchandise in stock, We have not applied such a strong adjustment. The thing is that people don’t have money and it’s not selling, that’s why we try not to raise too much.

Anyway, the dairy farmer remarked: “The liter of milk is still very low, because traditionally it cost the same as a kilo of bread.. “Now it happens that bread is already worth 1,500 pesos and we sell milk for $750, because of primary production, we pasteurize it and sell it to the public.”

“In addition to milk, what we sell the most is top quality cream cheese, which we have at 5,300 pesos per kilo, fresh Sardinian cheese that costs 6,700 and ricotta that is also worth 5,300 pesos. And we always try to hold on until the last “so as not to go up so fast”

“Milk has to continue rising, because it has been depressed for many years. The price for the producer has been very low. What happens is that producers are tied to the large companies, to which we sell the milk. They They buy at very low prices because even though they also increase inputs and electricity and gas rates, they always turn to primary production first. That’s why they close their dairy farms every day; There will come a time when no one will want to produce milk,” he lamented.
