This May 19, a representation of the people of the Hero City of the Republic of Cuba also arrives at the cemetery where the José Martí Mausoleum is erected to confirm with fresh flowers their respect and admiration for the light, anti-imperialist, Latin Americanist man, the poet. , the journalist, the one who did so much for the freedom we have today.

In the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery in the city of Santiago, where his mortal remains rest, a military ceremony, and guard of honor, reveres to the Master; Between verses, music and oratory, the example he leaves us is exalted thanks to his ethical, humanist, independence, literary legacy… which becomes tangible inside and outside our borders.

Floral offerings in the name of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, were placed next to Martí’s funeral mound, always wrapped with a Cuban flag and a bouquet of white roses in fulfillment of the wish expressed by him in one of his simple Verses.

There were also floral arrangements on behalf of the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo Hernández, and the people of Cuba.

129 years after the Apostle’s fall in combat, in many different ways and throughout the country, the Cuban people also paid special honors to José Martí, the man of all time.

The tribute to Martí in Santiago de Cuba was led by the highest authorities of the Party and the Government in the province, Beatriz Jhonson Urrutia and Manuel Falcón Hernández, respectively.

The work and action of the National Hero serve as an inspiration to generations of Cubans, and 129 years after his physical departure he remains the lifeblood and breath of new times.

At the end of the tribute to Martí, those present also dedicated a moment of honor with fresh flowers to three other paradigms of Cuban freedom whose eternal resting places are in the cemetery of the city of Santiago de Cuba: Mariana Grajales, Mother of the Homeland , Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Father of the Nation, and Fidel Castro Ruz, Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution.
