The Council of State of Cuba approved this Monday new decree laws and evaluated the implementation of measures to correct distortions and boost the economy, during a session held at the National Capitol.

According to information published on the website of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP, parliament), the session was headed by the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the head of the highest legislative body, Esteban Lazo.

The four decree laws approved are: the Modification of Decree Law 56 on Maternity of workers and the responsibility of families, of October 13, 2021 and the Special Social Security Regime for workers who are individually hired to work. abroad.

As well as the decree law of the Compensation Fund and the regulatory provision on International Commercial Arbitration and Mediation, details the information from the ANPP.

The first of the regulatory provisions issued, as explained by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feitó, allows the extension of the period for enjoying the period of social benefit up to 15 months of life of the minor and, consequently, updates the terms in the articles of the legal norm.

This modification represents a favorable measure for the benefit of Cuban families, which also contributes to the Policy for Attention to Demographic Dynamics, said Feitó.

The second approved decree law protects workers residing in the national territory who, individually, carry out work activities outside the country.

In relation to the regulations aimed at the compensation fund, the Minister of Justice, Oscar Silvera, indicated that it stipulates its organization and functions, for the execution of civil liability derived from the crime.

He also added that it adjusts its operation to the socioeconomic conditions of the country, to the improvement of the criminal justice system and constitutional mandates.

Each of the approved decree laws will be published in a timely manner in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba, the parliament website revealed.

In another order, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero reported on the reorganization of the action plan as part of the process to correct distortions and re-boost the economy in 2024, with the aim of advancing issues of greater impact on the population.

He highlighted those that affect the reactivation of productive capacities and the generation of foreign currency income for the country.

He also announced a proposal for decisions focused on the Macroeconomic Stabilization Program; to the incentive for national production, especially food; the reduction of the fiscal deficit and the ordering of relations between economic actors, among others.

They urge to raise the quality of the educational process

The members of the Council of State of Cuba urged the Ministry of Education to perfect and increase actions to increase the quality of the educational process at each level and type of teaching.

The exhortation occurred in a work session at the National Capitol, during the analysis of the III Improvement of the National Education System, notes a notification published on the official website of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP, Parliament).

The text adds that, after discussing the presentation of the Minister of Education, Naima Trujillo, the legislators agreed on the need to make the greatest efforts and efforts possible to apply the transformations effectively.

Trujillo stated that this process began to take shape in 2010 and, since then, “five types of research were applied that have allowed us to verify, in pedagogical practice, the effectiveness of the new proposals.” According to the owner, from 2014 to 2017 “the new curricular conception was experimented in 68 centers in six provinces and between 2017 and 2020, the experiment was expanded to 152 in all provinces and Isla de la Juventud.”

In this second stage, he said, in addition to the forms of work, new study plans, programs, textbooks, workbooks and methodological guidelines were applied.

The results of the monitoring and evaluation in massive and deepening cuts were positive, in the same way the consultations and orders allowed the experiences and materials prepared to be enriched, he assured.

However, the timeline for generalization was interrupted by Covid-19. Therefore, it was necessary to work with curricular adaptations and, when the impact of the virus was greatest, close the institutions, he explained.

The proposals designed and tested during the experiment, presented by the authorities of the sector, were praised by those present, who highlighted their importance in raising educational quality in the current conditions of the nation.
