Expulsion of five foreigners: security measures in Bucaramanga

The men were caught committing crimes, on a recurring basis, in the capital of Santander.

The Mayor’s Office of Bucaramanga reported that, after several operations by the authorities, “the expulsion of the first five foreign citizens who were involved in illicit activities and generating disturbances in the community is effective.”

According to the authorities, those captured had a record for various infractions. The search and capture operations were carried out by the Search Block, within the framework of the Padlock Plan of the Mayor’s Office of Bucaramanga.

“Those who come to Bucaramanga with the intention of respecting the rules and contributing honestly are welcome, while those who seek to sow chaos or violate the laws will be expelled. It is essential to guarantee the safety and well-being of all citizens,” said the mayor of Bucaramanga, Jaime Andrés Beltrán.

Beltrán Martínez said that the expulsion of these individuals is part of a systematic process in which more expulsions of offending foreigners are expected.

“We deeply thank the local authorities, the Police, the Army, the Prosecutor’s Office and especially Migración Colombia for their dedication and commitment in this process. They have demonstrated a necessary balance between respect for human rights and the effective application of the law to guarantee that all legal requirements are met in this process,” concluded the Bumangueses leader.

It is expected that, in the next few hours, the men will be taken to a border with their country of origin, Venezuela.
