In the city of Santa Marta, the District Council has given the green light to the “Santa Marta 500 más” Development Plan, presented by the administration of Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello. This strategic plan, drawn up to mark the city’s 500th anniversary, establishes a detailed roadmap that will guide the district’s actions over the next four years, addressing a wide range of priority areas.

A plan for the future of Santa Marta

The process of creation and approval of the “Santa Marta 500 más” Development Plan has been an exercise of collaboration and commitment on the part of all parties involved. After a series of exhaustive discussions at the Plan Commission and at the full council, the corporation finally unanimously approved the proposed plan.

This achievement is the result of a rigorous and participatory debate process that involved all the groups represented in the corporation. The president of the District Council, José Manuel Mozo, highlighted the importance of this fact, pointing out that the approval of the plan reflects the commitment of the local government and the councilors to work together to promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Santa Marta.

A solid financial plan for effective execution

The “Santa Marta 500 más” Development Plan has an estimated budget of 7.6 billion pesos, a considerable figure that reflects the ambition and scope of the initiatives included in the plan.

To finance this ambitious project, a diversified financing approach has been established, with 50% of the funds coming from the local budget and the rest managed by the national government and international financial organizations. This approach ensures that the district has the resources necessary to implement the initiatives included in the plan and address the development challenges facing the city.

A comprehensive approach to progress and transformation

This plan has several fundamental axes: water, mobility, basic sanitation, environment, quality of education, security and economic development. These axes are considered crucial to boost the growth and sustainable development of Santa Marta in the coming years.

Among the highlighted priorities is urgent attention to the problem of water supply, both for residents and for productive activities, with the implementation of specific programs and projects aimed at improving the district’s water infrastructure and guaranteeing adequate access to it. .
